What this is

Not a retreat. Deliberately.

Nobody is going to facilitate you through Christmas. There's no programme, no circle at 6am, no one holding space for your feelings about the year. You get a room with a door, food you didn't cook, and a mountain to be quiet on. If something is happening — a fire, a practice, someone cooking — you're welcome. If you'd rather not, nobody will come looking.

Three meals a day

From-scratch whole food, cooked here, every day including the 25th and the 1st. You never think about a kitchen or a closed restaurant.

Your own space

A private cabin, tent, room or the whole Casita — not a dorm, not a shared schedule. Close the door whenever you want.

The land, all of it

The shala, the fire, the paths, the lake below and three volcanoes across it. Use as much or as little as you like.

Nobody facilitating you

No circle, no programme, no 6am gong. If something is happening you're welcome; if you'd rather not, nobody will notice.

Who comes

People who'd rather be somewhere quiet.

Some are travelling and have nowhere particular to be. Some find this fortnight heavy and would rather spend it under trees than under fairy lights. Some just want nine days where nothing is required of them. All of it is fine here, and nobody will ask you which one you are.

Every price below covers the whole space for all 9 nights, with three meals a day. There are only fourteen rooms on this land, and this window is the one people ask about first.

Nine nights, 24 December to 2 January. Every price is for the whole space, all nine nights, three meals a day included.

The practical answers.

Do I have to join anything?: No. Not one thing. Meals are served and you can eat them alone if you like. If a fire happens on the 31st you're welcome at it, and equally welcome to be asleep.
Is food really included on the 25th?: Yes — three meals a day, every day, including Christmas and New Year's Day. From-scratch whole food, vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free easily handled. Tell us what you need when you book.
Can I come for fewer nights?: The rate is per night, so shorter is possible if there's room — write to us. The nine nights from 24 Dec 2026 are what we hold as a block, and full stays get first choice of space.
How do I get there?: Fly to Guatemala City, then a shuttle to Panajachel and a boat to San Marcos La Laguna — or a shuttle straight to San Marcos. We're ten minutes up from the dock. Ask and we'll walk you through it.
How do I pay?: You hold the room here, we email you a payment link within a few minutes — bank transfer or Wise. Nothing is charged on this page.
What if I want to stay longer after?: From 3 January the monthly stays open again, from $499 a month. Plenty of people arrive for this and stay into February.
